Graphic Design Thinking Beyond Brainstorming by Ellen Lupton
I got a book from the NewYork Art Book Fair. At the event i visited the Princeton Architectural Press and found a very interesting book. I think it is very handful book for designer.
Creativity is more than an inborn talent. It is a hard-earned skill that, like all skills, improves with practice. Graphic Design Thinkingexplores a variety of techniques—from quick, seat-of-the-pants approaches to more formal research methods—for stimulating fresh thinking and solving design problems. Brainstorming techniques are grouped around the three main phases of the design process: defining problems, getting ideas, and creating form. Visual demonstrations and case studies show the design processes and solutions at work. Featuring best-selling author Ellen Lupton's hands-on, accessible approach to instructional writing, this most recent addition to the Design Briefs series will help designers create projects that satisfy clients, users, and themselves.

Modern, Clean, and Sleek, with Energy
Financial District
Eight frames above are storyboard that represent a Financial District. The theme is modern clean and sleek with energy. In the working process, this is my first time that I am working on Flash 5.5. It is a more complicated than I thought. However, after this assignment I learn more about glowing effect, motion and classic tween, and also how to manage timeline in Flash.

Typo Poster Design
This typographic poster is by a design studio based in Milan. I like how the elements are put together and make an impressive eye-catch. The typography and the visual layouts help put more depth into the poetry when reading.

I came across with this website:

It has resourceful information on the history of FiDi as well as stunning photographs of the cityscape.

Revisiting NYC's Financial District History
Throughout years of dramatic changes in the City, the Financial District of Manhattan (FiDi) has witnessed so much of not only NYC's but also the country's history. Historical events such as the Great Depression in 1930's and the September 11 attacks have made the area become a story in itself. Browsing through countless historical photos of the area and its landscape, I realize what great tools they are in telling stories. We see people, we events, and we see changes.
But what are some other great storytellers? What are some more permanent records of the area's history, culture, and arts? Buildings. And that's the topic I'm excited to learn more about. Architecture in the Financial District of Manhattan.
